Summer Plans....

On my personal retreat I spent a lot of time planning our summer. I love to plan ahead and try to think through ways to make my time more efficient! I think it's the melancholy in me:).

Here's the Summer Poster I made this year with some Fun activities we'd like to do before school starts in the Fall. We've already marked off a few things, or should I say Corinn has marked them off as soon as we do them...it's the melancholy in her:).

I also typed out a detailed morning routine for my older girls. I have Kiera wiping down their bathroom each morning and Corinn making their beds and picking up their room. I also planned times for the them to have a quiet time, read, practice math, and journal each day in hopes to keep their minds sharp over the summer. The great thing about it is that they were excited to have some structure to their days. We might not follow it exactly each day, but we try to accomplish it all before bed and not without a lot of fun thrown in between.

My goals for my girls this summer are ....

Corinn.... to keep her reading and help her get better at multiplication.

Kiera.....to grow her reading by reading with her and to help her grow as a speller too.

Karis...to teach her to write her name and identify more letters.

Kendra...to teach her to peddle her tricycle and to know her colors.

My overall goal is that my girls will have lots and lots of fun and create wonderful memories. This is my only summer with a 9,7,3, and 2 year old and I want to savor it!

I love the little bit of structure you have added to the day. And I love how each of your older girls has one little chore.

Such a cute picture of them in the grass.

Oh sweet Barbie! I miss you! Tab's msg. this morning was on parenting:train them up with biblical discipline, instruction and relationship.
The last point was that you can't have the first two things on the list without a foundation in relationships, just as God modeled for us in the gospel.
You came to mind, as someone I see really strive to build a relationship with each of your girls. I haven't been able to check up on blogs for a while but this entry made me smile to see that what I was thinking about you, you are still so consistant with! I pray God encourages you this summer in new ways! ~Erin
